“Burgage is a medieval land term used in England and Wales, Ireland and Scotland, well established by the 13th century. A burgage was a town (“borough“) rental property (to use modern terms), owned by a king or lord. The property (“burgage tenement”) usually, and distinctly, consisted of a house on a long and narrow plot of land (Scots, toft), with a narrow street frontage.”
I have been working on my new site for weeks and I am so excited to welcome you to my burgage! It’s just a small house, with a tiny bit of street frontage on the Internet, but I can’t wait for you to look around. I’ve worked hard to make it homey and welcoming. I’ve got a number of rooms (tabs) for you to explore. The homepage is like my foyer. It’s where I introduce myself and welcome you to my place.
First, I want you to know that the Magic is REAL. When a magical world comes together with a story, we can all go there together.
DREAMING OF FEDONTA is the place where you can learn about my series in progress, with The Sword of Ferbandey as the first book in the series. These spaces are the ones I am most excited to show you. Check it out and let me know what you think of the snippets of my novel that you find there. Just for the record, my first draft is done, and after my burgage is respectable, I will be jumping into the first revisions. There are some major changes to come, but I can’t wait to get back to the actual writing and editing process. Also found under The Stories are my works of other lengths on the Tales of the Realms (short stories) and Poetry pages. The short story “To Live or To Die” has a remote story connection to The Sword of Ferbandey. I hope you enjoy them too.
The realm of Fedonta is magical in its own right. You can find out all about the magic of that world, and what beasts and clans or kingdoms you might find there. I hope you will take time to look around. Researching the Realms has links to some of the work I have leveraged to build the realm of Fedonta, and I hope you might find some interesting books, and links there too. The Lore and Legends tab has links to all kinds of fantasy writings from faeries to goblins. You can also find descriptions and recipes for the foods you might find in Fedonta. Let me know what else you would like to see in this space. I want you to feel cozy here in my burgage.
Heralds has news for both the fantasy crowds–from faerie festivals to a trailer for Harry Potter fans for Fantastic Beasts–and the literary ones (writers and readers alike)–conferences and new young adult fantasy book releases among other things.
If you want to do some Magical Merrymaking, then you can stop by my Game room where you can find links to fantasy games all over the borough that my sons dug up, work on Crafts, or take a quiz or poll. You can even find some fantastic authors and their young adult fantasy series on my Fantasy Author/Artists page. There are some amazing reads there.
Finally, I would love to get to know you better too. You can contact me by Sending Me a Scroll, or find me on Twitter, Google+, Pinterest, GoodReads, or DeviantArt too. Hearing from you would make my day, and you might just keep a brownie (a small being supposed to haunt houses and do chores like delivering mail) from making mischief.
I hope you’ve enjoyed the tour in my small burgage. The rent isn’t too bad here and the scenery is fine. I am really looking forward to getting to know the folks in the neighborhood!
